Barefoot Truth

Barefoot Truth

Barefoot Truth is a band from Mystic CT, about 20 miles from where our trip started. In fact, we used to play soccer with the lead singer, Will Evans.  Sadly, the band broke up about a year ago but you can still access all their amazing music and more on the links below.  We used their hit song "Roll if you Fall" at the begining and end of the film.

Quiet Life Band

Quiet Life Band

The Quiet Life Band is originally from New London, CT.  Todd and Craig, the lead guitarist, grew up together after their mom's met in lamaze class.  In fact, we all went to college together at the University of Connecticut and hung out regularly. Quiet Life has lived and played in southern California and Portland, Oregon over the last five years.  You can check out their amazing music below.  We used four their songs at different parts of the film; "Were you Singing," "California," "Promise Land" and "No Surprise."

Peter Heckel

Peter Heckel

Peter's amazing piano compositions are what got us through Iowa - at least during the editing footage part of it:)  His songs include "Glimmer Walz," "Kid has Heart," and "The Road Home."  Todd met Peter while starting a professional digital arts program for Oakland students, which he is still directing.  Sponsors include Autodesk and Adobe!   Heckel sold me, "I aint in the music biz" so we are all blessed with his music for free on Soundcloud- with the download option available.  Check the links below.

Jeremy Bruno

Jeremy Bruno

Jeremy is a musical genius that grew up in the same town as us, East Lyme, CT. Years after the trip, we all happened to be home at the same time, and looking for an original theme song.  It took him 24 hours to produce what would be one of our favorite parts of the film.  His song plays over the the concluding narration and credits.  Jeremy has played with Quiet Life and also occasionally plays for the Moondoggies, another Portland, Oregon band.

Dog Faced Spiders

Dog Faced Spiders

This band is an eclectic collection of friends from our hometown area.  Their song, "Perfect Organism" is used when we visit Ben in Vancouver. Their hip hop beats reminded us of what Ben was bumping on his garage stereo the whole time we were there.

Maf Tulá

Maf Tulá

Todd met Maf while living in Antigua, Guatemala.   Maf and her band, were all living in the same apartment complex as Todd, when the lead guitarist decided to stroll up higher on the mountain and take in the view.  Todd got invited to hear them play and has been a big fan of their music ever since.    Maf's song "Walk the Road" is on the website homepage teaser and also play's over the Teton's hike scene.   She is still working on getting her stuff online:)  For now, just youtube search, "Maf Tula" or click the link below for one example.

Bobby Darling

Bobby Darling

Todd also met Bobby in Antigua, but it turned out they have a common history.  For starters, he owns a house with his ex wife in our hometown, East Lyme, CT!  In addition, we have mutual friends in common with his daughter and even more ridiculous is that Todd's mom and dad know Bobby from thirty years ago when he played gigs at Killington Ski Resort!!  None of this was known of course, until they were introduced at the local used book store in Antigua.  Bobby's "I Suck at Life" instrumental plays over the "10 Years Later."
